Crusher industry should keep green development
Rock Crusher Produces 350 Ton Of Limestone An Hour
Baxter County Road and Bridge employees work to ready a rock crusher for operation at the county's new quarry site. The crusher should be up and running by today, said County Judge Joe Bodenhamer. / Kevin Pieper/The Baxter Bulletin Shawn Mead of Barlow Consulting in West Plains, Mo., wires up a 300-horsepower electric motor on a rock crusher at Baxter County's new quarry site. The crusher is capable of producing 350 tons per hour of limestone gravel. / Kevin Pieper/The Baxter Bulletin A rock crusher capable of producing 350 tons per hour of limestone gravel in multiple diameters will begin service for the Baxter County Road and Bridge Department today. Baxter County Judge Joe Bodenhamber said a portion of the the 80-acre quarry site off AR Highway 201 adjoining the Dilbeck Excavation quarry has been under construction for nearly a year. It combines a new rock crusher, a conveyor system and a 1-kilovolt diesel-powered electric plant to replace aging equipment and a quarry south of Mountain Home that no longer provides a reliable supply of the clay-free limestone gravel needed to build county roads. “We’re the envy of most Arkansas counties. I hear about it when I attend county judges’ meetings,” Bodenhamer told The Bulletin. Most Arkansas counties, particularly those in south Arkansas, purchase road base materials from commercial quarries. Baxter County is situated in a region rich in subterranean limestone formations. The incoming quarry is next door to a commercial quarry that taps deep-running veins of high-quality limestone, the judge said. The quarry is part of the road and bridge department’s five-year operating plan purchased in part with funds from the 2004 sale of a county-owned Baxter Manor Nursing Home, now Hiram Shaddox Geriatric Center. Day-to-day funding for the venture comes from existing road and bridge department budget line items, the judge said. Bodenhamer says the county consumes about 200,000 tons of road building material annually. The cost per ton — about $1.86 — is about one-third of the retail cost of most commonly used base materials. Road and bridge department personnel provided all the labor to install the new crusher except for some electrical wiring. The county's system of roadways involves about 350 miles of roadway surfaced with asphalt and another 350 surfaced with gravel, the judge said. Two tracked screens make a debut for Maximus
Written by Lindsay Gale - 27 Jun 2012 Maximus Crushing & Screening has introduced two new heavy duty tracked screens in the shape of the 17 tonne two deck 409 and the 38 tonne three deck 522T. According to the company, the 409 has been developed to meet the needs of smaller customers who require versatility allied with ease of transport, while still providing high reliability. The 409 can be used in a variety of applications, including crushing circuits, demolition and construction waste processing, and aggregates, heavy rock and topsoil handling. Power comes from a Deutz 49 kW (66 hp) diesel, and the machine features a heavy duty two bearing screenbox measuring 2,75 x 1,24 m (9 x 4 ft), integrated hydraulically folding side conveyors and a heavy duty hopper. Its larger sibling, the 522T, has been designed for medium to large scale customers that require high capacity and high specification aggregate screening capabilities. It offers top and middle screen decks measuring 6.7 x 1.52 m (22 x 5 ft) and a lower deck of 6.1 x 1.5 m (20 x 5 ft), and a hopper with a cpacity of 9.2 cubic metres (12 cubic yards). Power comes from a 96 kW (129 hp) cat diesel. In transport mode the new screen measures 18.8 m (61.7 ft) in length, 3 m (9.9 ft) in width and 3.5 m (11.5 ft) in height. |
Fahey’s Concrete powers ahead with Finlay Plant SW
Fahey’s Concrete Ltd is getting maximum advantage from its aggregate processing plant, with the delivery of two new machines from Finlay Plant SW Fahey’s Concrete Ltd is getting maximum advantage from its aggregate processing plant, with the delivery of two new machines from Finlay Plant SW. The company has introduced a Terex Finlay J-1175 Jaw Crusher and C-1540 RS Cone Crusher at its Camelford site, located in the north of Cornwall. Working with Gareth Johnson, managing director of Finlay Plant SW, Fahey Concrete chose a Terex Finlay J-1175, complete with an independent pre-screen, and a Terex Finlay C-1540 RS complete with pre-screen and a side conveyor. Gareth Johnson, managing director of Finlay Plant SW, which is part of theFinlay Group of companies, said: "The J-1175 has an independent pre-screen, with a very aggressive action, which eradicates as many fines as possible, prior to the rock entering the jaw chamber. "Following the J-1175 is the C-1540RS. The crushed product passes directly over an on-board 1.83m x 1.22m single deck screen, prior to the cone chamber. "Finlay Group fitted a side conveyor under the screen, giving the option of a screened product from the J-1175. "After the material has passed through the cone chamber, it is then conveyed over a 3.66m x 1.52m single deck screen, oversize transfer conveyor, recirculating conveyor and fines conveyor. “The cone crusher is also constantly choke fed, which helps develop a precise shape for the product and eradicates any shale. “With the J-1175 and the C-1540 RS being perfectly matched, we have tried to cater as closely as possible to the customer’s needs." One of the biggest concrete producers in Devon and Cornwall, Fahey’s Concrete is a family-run business, with more than 35 years’ experience. As well as processing gritstone for Stone Mastic Asphalt, the Camelford site produces various other products to cater for its growing customer base – and both machines from Finlay Plant SW are on tracks and able to move into areas around the quarry as required to carry out this function.
